Sir, —In the course of his very interesting lecture last night. Dr. Newman', expressed the opinion that from now: until the end of the war races should he abolished. With this the audience— a fairly representative one—apparently cordially agreed, as the remark called.' forth the loudest and most prolonged': applause of the evening. Whv,_ then,, has it been absolutely ignored in the) newspaper roports?—l am, etc., . M.R.B.
[The question of stopping Tiorseracing has received a good deal of publicity, but apparently little impression has been made on those in authority.]
