MASTERTON NOTES
At a mooting of tho Masterton branch of the W.C.T.TJ. arrangements wore made for a canvass of tho district for signatures to a petition in favour of the early closing of hotels in the Dominion. Mt. G.R. Sykes, M.P., intends visiting various parts of his electorate to assist in tho organising ivork of the National Efficiency Board. The inaugural soldiers! dance of the season was held in the Mastcrton Municipal Hall oh Wednesday evening. There was a large gathering of soldiers from the Featherston Camp. Tho installation of tho automatic telephone system in which has been delayed owing to the difficulty in procuring materials, is now almost completed. Tho switchboard will accommodate 1100 subscribers, and is capable- of extension. Tho final bowling matcli of the season for the Booth Oup between the Masterton and Featherston Clubs is to be played on tho Curtorton green on Thursday. ' •
