SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY
The autumn's work was _ opened in tlie brightly decorated Institute of the Sailors' Friend Society last night before a delighted audience, when the Misses Boyd and Fulton provided a concert. Mr. Moore, Missaoner, in opening the proceedings, spoke of the- splendid help oP the Wellingtonians in providing the one hundred or more concerts per year to lighten the lives of those who venture on the troubled seas of to-day. Rounds of applause met all the performers. Each man received a buttonhole of flowers at the hands of the Misses Kreeft and Morrah. Gifts of books came in, and much was done to make the opening night a memorable one. The performers were: — The Mesdames J. Lewis and Alexander, and the Misses Earsman, Tomlin (2), Baillio, Cunningham, and Armstrong, and Messrs. Brown and Cooper. Miss -Lawton was at the piano.
