Smith submitted by; lotter to last night's meeting of the Onslow Borough Council a proposal that tho council nndertako the ploughing of private, or other lands within tho borough for tho production of potatoes, or other crops. The Mayor said tho matter resolved itself into ii suggestion that the council procure implements for the cultivation, of land for any who desired it._ It was a question whether tho council, howover, had tho power to undertake sucH work. Personally, lie. thought that pos* sibly it hud the power. Councillor L. A.
