NAVY LEAGUE
Admiral F. C. ,T. Tudor, now Second Sea Lord to tne Admiralty, was in command of H.M.S. Challenger in New Zealand waters in 1904-5 and co-operated with the Navy League in the organisar tion of school members' visits to his ship. Ho specially arranged for the Challenger to be at Napier early in 1905 at tho time that Mr. C.MV. Palmer was organising branches there; and the then Captain Tudor attended and spoke at several Navy League demonstrations at Wellington and elsewhere. A further letter has just some to hand congratulating the late hon. secretary on his Navy League work, i.e., prior to his retirement. Admiral Tudor writes: "This war has Brought all Britons together, no matter what part of the globe they may live in, in a manner nothing else could have done, 1 do not suppose there is a British man or woman who does not now realise that it is on the strength of the Navy that the whole carrying out of the war, both by ourselves and oiir Allies absolutely depends. . . . I havo no doubt you are all looking forward to tho day when you will wclcome back your men full of honour and glory from the front, and let us hope that this may not be so very long deferred."
