GERMANY'S LOST COLONIES
A' RECENT SPEECH DISCUSSED.
(Rec. February 21, 9.45 p.m.)' london, February 20. Mr. Long (Secretary of State for the Colonies), replying to Mr. N. B. Buxton, said that his recent speech was delivered in his official capacity as Colonial Secretary. He was expressing the opinions of • those whom he was hound to represent, namely, the Dominions and colonies, besides .many people here. Mr. Long denied the allegation that his language had created a difficulty with America.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
[The Colonial Secretary (Mr. Walter Long), in a speech at Westminster, said: "Wo have taken possession of different German colonies in different parts of the\world as a consequence of the war. I speak with knowledge and responsibility, and as a representative of the Overseas Dominions, who are the pride and glory of tho Empire to-day, when I say: ,'Let no man think that these territories will over return to German rule.'"]
