Thames, February 21, 4 p.m.- ; The most disastrous flood ever ew porienced here occurred early this morning. A heavy storm of. wind and) rain raged during the night, and early) this morning a small bridge over tliel creek above the town was washed! away and carried down stream; lit blocked tie channel where the cement-; ed portion begins, with the result thafc' the water overflowed and deluged the town. Logs, debris, and fiilt were posited everywhere, ruining gardens and invading houses. Many ppopla escaped, leaving all the contents of the houses behind. Much damage was dona in shops that were flooded. Every) street was like a lake. Business was suspended, and tho town isolated. Tele-* graphio communication is suspended at) present. Railway washouts have stopped all traffic. When the obstruction in the channel was removed, thai water left the streets. ■ ~.
