ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
MAN KILLED AT A QUARRY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Pahiatua, February 19. John Miller M'Narry Duncan, aged forty-one years, was killed by a big fall of metal at a quarry where he was working at Eakaunui. He sustained shocking injuries. Another man, "William Cutler, had a narrow escape. The pit had been frequently inspected, but no danger was apparent. Deceased leaves a wife and several children at Makuri. SUDDEN DEATH. Christchurch, February 19., Jane F. Main, single, aged 53, .of 82 Harper Street, Sydenham, died last night, while going to the Salvation Array Hall. DROWNING ACCIDENT. Eltham, February 19. Georgo Marx, a son of' Jacob Marx, a well-known settler of Mangatoki, was drowned at Opunake Beach on Saturday. Deceased was a married man with one child. Tho body has been recovered.
WOMAN DIES IN GAOL. Auckland, February 19. An elderly woman, named Ellen Lidstone, who was serving a sentence of one month's imprisonment, died at the Mount Eden Gaol last night. ■ Shn received her sentence in To Aroha on January 26, and at the time of her admittance was suffering from paralysis of a progressive nature, and had lately had several seizures.
Last evening a boy, 12 years of age, named John Martin, residing at Petone, was knocked down by a vehicle. Ho received injuries to his head and abdomen. He was brought in to the Wellington. Hospital at 8.30 last evening, and at midnight was reported in a bad condition.
