MINISTERIAL STATEMENT. The following statement has been issued by the Hon. Minister in Charge of Imperial Supplies :—"ln connection with the Government scheme for the purchase of sheepskins on behalf of tho Imperial Government, it is being found [ tliat, owing to outside speculative buy- , ing, sufficient sheepskins for the purvposes of the Government are not coming forward for purchase. The export of pelts is already prohibited except under permit, and in view of the position it has been decided to stop the issue of all permits for tho export of pickled pelts, exce.pt in regard to thoso from skins already fellmongered or those which. the Government is reasonably satisfied are derived from sheep and lambs slaughtered in meat export slaughterhouses."
