Stoping on No. 1 reef, over the. low V levcl was continued in the Rising Sun mine. Owharoa, last week. The manager reports that the l'eef maintained its siz&, and was producing.a highly-payable class ; of ore. The drive south, on the hangingwall branch. Was advanced from 88ft. to 94ft. The leader has pinched to about 9in„ but continues to carry good values. TAIRUA BROKEN HILLS. The manager of the Tairua Broken Hills mine, Tairua, reports that during the past week the level north of the main crosscut on No. 3 reef was extended 9ft. The reef was 12in. wide, and carried a little gold, but was' not 1 payable. Crushing operations were finished, 120oz. of hard squeezed amalgam being on hand. The sands and slimes are Tieing treated, and .the battery will be cleaned up in a fortnight. . NEW SYLVIA. ' In the New Sylvia mine, Thames, in the stopes north Of ;No. 4 rise at No. .5 level, the reef is sft. wide, and fairly well mineralised. One stope is' going between the winze and No. 3 rise. The reef is sft.' wide. The manager, reports that gold was seen occasionally last week.' Good progress is being made in the Norfolk section, where the reef appears to be opening out. Two stopes arc going along on 20in. of quartz of fair- value. HAURAKI REEFS.. Very little stoping was done in the Hauraki Reefs mine, Coromandel, last week owing to water finding its way in. . The manager reports that 'driving off the' winze was started, and the quartz broken showed strong gold. „ WAIHI. EXTENDED. The manager .of the Waihi Extended | mine, Waihi, reports that the shaft was sunk a further 3ft. last week. The country passed through was still hard, being mineralised throughout. STOCK EXCHANGE.
