Mr. Veitch, M.P., speaking at a luncheon to members of the Northern Parliamentary tour, said tho man who says he would just as well live under German rule as under British rule is a fool. ' "We cannot allow men to talk like thai,"-he continued. "This war is not a football match-. Uur soldiers do not want barrackers; they want fighters. I .was told that if I supported military servioo I would go out of office. In reply to that I say that if a soldier is prepared to risk his life for me I would be a coward if I were not prepared to risk my billet for him." When Mr. Veitch sat down, all present, .standing, gave three rousing cheers. Mr. W. H. Field, M.P., said Mr. Veitch had expressed the sentiments of three-fourths or more of tho Labour people of New Zealand. '
