This is an important and progressive step that should interest .all parents,j particularly those who mako a practics; of attending the moving picture shows, i It is known that the picture theatres! are very largely attended by children, i and realising'in it a powerful influence' it is desired to seek ways and moans whereby the programmes might bo; made of greater educative value to juvenile patrons. _ In the United States the kinema is largely used in the schoolroom to convey "at'first hand" that which/ is atf times more or less difficult to describs to children in words. The. pictures! mako a direct appeal to their imagina-'. ■tion. and rivet their attention on tho subject being dealt' with, making tho task' of explaining 'and understanding; a very simple one.., On account of ths cost involved, such a system is hardlypossible in:."Wellington at present, but it is thought that the public theatres might include more educative picture?* in their programmes is oustomnr.v, and even study public interest sufficiently to submit whole, programmed suitable for children.'
