Mellsop, Eliott and Co., Palmerston North, local agents) report on tile frozen meat market, uuder date London December 15, 1916, as follows:— Home-grown—Meat has appeared in considerable quantities, and there is little to distinguish Smithfield Market from normal" times at this season. Beef is specially prominent, ant owing to the high prices of feeding stuffs large numbers of pigs are being slaughtered. Another consignment of Dutch sheep came to hand this week—about 1500 cur- ° Frozen—lt is surprising how; the demand for lamb continues at a time which is usually regarded as a quiet one; the supply is inadequate.
