PREVENTION OF CRUELTY
The committee of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals met yesterday afternoon. Mr. F. Meadowcroft presided. The following subscriptions received during the past two weeks were acknowledged .—Messrs. Kirkcaldie and Stains, £1 Is.; Mrs. J. R. Blair, £1; Messrs. Findlay, Dalziell, and Howard, 10s. 6d.; Mr. W. G. Mantell, 10s.; Mr. G. H. Scales, 7a. 6d.j'Messrs.. G. Win-der,-Hilland Sons, Nash Milk Co., Mesdames R. M. Simpson, J. Young, O. Christie, 6s. each; Mr. Jolliffe, 2s. 6d.; "Friend," Iβ. Total, £5 2s. 6d The chairman expressed regret at tho fact that tho society's incomo had not recently been equal to its expenditure. He hoped that those interested m the work would take notice of tho lact, and lend assistance
