GERMAN BRUTALITY EXPOSED

Petrograd, January 28. The committee of inquiry into thd German atrocities against prisoners has published a statement by a private o£ the Dublin Fusiliers,, who saw at Mannheim a group' of Russian prisoners surrounded by an escort m marching order. Tho captain proposed that the prisoners should -work on tie French front. They declined, whereupon the escort heat them .with: rifle butts, and stabbed! them with bayonets, aid tha officer beat them on .the head with theflat of hiii sword, and then used tha point. _ The wounded prisoaers were thrust into a. train and removed. Tha British prisoners protested loudly, and were locked in the 'barracks.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. SLAVEDOM IN POLAND. Now York, January 28. \ The "New York Times" has received' an authentic story of German, rule in Poland. The conquerors looted Vilna, where the death-rate- las increased by four times._ Food: "was "seized" and resold to the inhabitants, and stores were sacked and the contents taken to Berlin.
