RUSSO-RUMANIAN SITUATION REVIEWED
(Rec, January 28, 5.5 p.m.l London, January 27. Military experts doscrihe the situation on the Danube delta as "satisfactory." ' The Russians are defending the Sufina, Canal, which is the chief mouth of the Danube, in order to conserve the navigation of the river to Ismail. The front then generally follows the Sereth River, and then the right hanK of tho Trotus as far as Ogna. Thence it bends . north-west to rejoin tho Anstro-Rumanian frontier. The enemy lias vainly attempted for clays to force the passage of tho Sereth between Focaani and Galalz, in order to push their left wing along the Trotus, hut the Russians are breaking tho attacks, while awaiting tho resumption of their own offensive—Reutcr. | NEW RUSSO-RUMANIAN COMMANDER.
