PRO-GERMAN LEAGUE TO BE DISSOLVED
EFFECT ON IMPERIAL POLITICS

Athens, January 26. Following upon a conference with Sir Francis Elliot, the Greek Government approved or a decree dissolving the Greek Reservists' League 'pro-Ger-man agitators). The Government accepted a list of the Allies' officers who are to be stationed in the twelve principal towns for the purpose of exercising military control. The Allies have been authorised to land sufficient coal for tho railways and for the transportation of troops.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
BLOCKADED PEOPLE REDUCED TO DIRE STRAITS

London, January 27. The "Daily Chronicle's" correspondent at Athens reports:—After fifty days of the blockade the Greek wheat supply was exhausted, and only ryebread in a small ration was served in tho restaurants.—Reutcr.
RETURN OP VENIZELOS TO ATHENS PREDICTED

London, January 27. The "Morning Post's" Athens correspondent says:—"The population is greatly relieved at tho Greek Government's acceptance of the Allies' ultimatum. All the people outside of the officers' clubs and the political intriguers have recognised that it is useless to ongage in a struggle with the Entente Powers. Everybody was sick of tho terrorism, the stagnation of business, and the visions of famine. There was muoh uneasiness in Athens concerning the Reservists, who employed lurid language -up to the. very last. The acceptance of our demands enraged the Goimarist colerio, because it will upset tho party's plans. The party may now aouse tho King of treason and collution. I predict M. The Chamber of Deputies has approved a secret session to discuss the position in Macedonia and the events which occurred at Athens on December 1.
