A FURTHER GERMAN ACCOUNT OF THE FIGHT

London, January 25. A wireless German official message says: V 69 received a. direct hit on the bridge. Captain Max Schultz. who bad been commanding the flotilla since the beginning of the war, was killed with two officers arid a few others. The steering gear was damaged, causing the vessel to collide with, another ship. V 69 was seriously damaged, and ran into Yraniden unmolested. The ship previously rammed by V 69 continued to participate in the fight, ramming and seriously damaging an English destroyer, which a German aeroplane subsequently reported to be sinking. The German vessel escaped at reduced speed, and reached a German point d'appui. A third ship encountered numerous enemy destroyers, and attacking immediately, sank a largo destroyer with a, torpedo at close range, and reached port in safety. The British Admiralty reiterates that the only British casualty was a destroyer torpedoed and Funk, as cabled.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Reuter. [The British Admiralty reported that in the engagement in the vicinity of the Schouwen Bank a destroyer was torpedoed, tho explosion killing three officers and 44 men.]
