EXPERIENCE OF ENEMY DESTROYER V 69
BRITISH OPENED FIRE AT LONG RANGE WITH ACCURACY __ ( Ymuiden, January 25. The crew of V 69 say they left Zeobrug?s apparently on an ordinary patrol on Monday afternoon. -Sho was the rearguard of a flotilla of eleven vessels. The alarm was sounded about 3 o'clock in the morning. Tliero was just time to reach the deck, when they discovered the British vessels abeam. They opened fire immediately with great accuracy at long range. There must have been treachery, as all precautions had been taken to avoid detection. The crippled ship tried to reach the month of tho Ems, but the British cut oIY their escapo. It was decided to run the Y69 ashore when they found that Ymuiden was within reach.—Aus.-N. Z. Cable Assn.
