A CONTRACT NULLIFIED
Washington, January 25. Britain has forbidden the acceptance by Hadfields of the contract to supply shells for the American Nary while the exigencies of war continue. —TCeuter. [Hadfields, Ltd., Hecla Works, Sheffield, are said to possess tho largest manufacturing capacity in the world for projectiles of all types and calibres up to lGin. The Secretary of the American Navy (Mr. Daniels) gave contracts to the firm for shells for the United States Navy to the value of over three million dollars (£6>jo,ooo). American tenders were over two hun-\ dred dollars (£4O) per shell in excess of the tender of tlio British firm, and the period .of delivery was double.]
