RECENT RUMOURS DENIED Rio dc Janeiro, January 23. The Minister of Marine discredits the rumour that the raider lias been sunk by the cruiser Glasgow. He believes the ships reported off tlie'northern coast yesterday we re British ships which were observing the correct attitude oiitside territorial waters. The Minister denies that the sailors from the German gunboat interned at Bahia escaped to join the raider. Nevertheless, it is noteworthy that he does not deny that two German vessels were preparing to depart.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
