ALLEGED MISAPPROPRIATION
MILITARY OFFICER CHARGED. (Reo. Jan.uarj' 23, 9.45 p.m.) Sydney, January 23; In the Police Court to-day, Lieut". D. Hi Howell-Price was remanded on a charge of knowingly claiming the pay, of Lieut. Dowries during November, 1915, while lie was lieutenant-adjutant;: of the Light Horse. The police prosecutor stated he tm-i derstood accuscd was lieutenant-adju-tant of the 9th Light Horse from April to July, 1915, and he was alleged to have submitted claims for pay-for the whole unit from tho time of demobilisation till the following November. He drew money which allegedly approximated to £50,000. He left the defence force in September last medically unfit; Thero was a suggestion that he had not disposed of all the money he obtaiiKidi. Counsel for the defence, in asking and obtaining £3000 bail, stated that the defence was a good one.—-rPress Association.
