The quarterly meeting oF the Palviatua Methodist 'Circuit officials was held last week. The- Rev. H. Cottou presided over a good attendance. The statement of finances for the quarter was considered very satisfactory, as the result of the annual Gift' Sunday appeal. Retiring collections for the North Island Orphanage resulted in £2 15s. Bd. being received. Amounts raised for home and foreign missions were a record. Mr. O. Johnson was eleoted representative to conference at Wellington next month, with Mr. W. J. Foster as substitute. The circuit stewards, Messrs. ()._ Johnson and J. J. Boagey, were unanimouly re-elected; appreciation being expressed of their services. It was resolved to hold a harvest thanksgiving and a gift stock sale during the present quarter. Mrs. Groves was appointed mission secretary. Correspondenco was _ received from the Property Board, Christchurch, and it was resolved to acquire their section at Scarborough. The minister was instructed to make inquiries concerning a suggested evangelistic mission by the Rev. Val. Trigge.
