By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, January 21. The price of meat in Auckland is to be raised by the retailers to-morrow, tho increases being Id. per pound in the case of beef steak and loin mutton chops, and $d. in the case of prime cuts of beef and mutton in joints.

•Tho Board of Trado is preparing a roport with regard to the price of meat in Auckland, where the retail butchers have announced increases owing to tho riso iu tho wholesale prices. Tho board, which has investigated the matter on the spot, is likely to make proposals for preventing the threatened-increase. It is stated that the Imporial Governmen will agreo to placo a sufficient quantity of the requisitioned _meat_ on tho local market at tho Imperial prices if satisfactory arrangements can bo made with the retailers.
