The following appointments and promotions of New Zealand officers serving in tho field have been announced :— Mounted Troops. Auckland Mounted Rifles. Lieut. H. D. AVilliams, transferred to the Royal Flying Corps, is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force (dated July 15). Lieut. A. C. M. Finlayson is granted the temporary rank of captain (dated September 10). Wellington Mounted Rifles. Captain A. F. Batchelor to be major (dated April 12). Otago Mounted Rifles. 2nd Lieut. B. T. Shand, transferred to the Royal Flying Corps, is struck off the strength of tho N.Z. Expeditionary Force (dated August 1). N.Z. Cyclist Corps. The undermentioned to be lieutenants (dated October 10):—2nd Lieut, (temporary Lieut.) A. H. Richards, 2nd Lieut. J. T. Steven; 2nd Lieut. G. L. Comer. Infantry. Wellington Regiment. Lieut. J. N. Ranch is granted the temporary rank of captain (dated November 4). Auckland Regiment. 2nd Lieut. F. Thomas to be lieutenant (dated July 1). Canterbury Regiment. 2nd Lieut, (temporary lieutenant) H. M. Foster, to be lieutenant (dated March 1). Lieut. S. W. B. Brooker is granted the temporary rauk of captain (dated September 28). Otago Regiment. 2nd Lieut. C. Barry to be lieutenant (dated September. 30). 2nd Lieut. G. H. Allan, to bo lieutenant (dated October 2). 2nd Lieut. D. M. Raej to be lieutenant (dated October 13). 2nd Lieut. A. G. Henderson, to be lieutenant (dated October 23). Sergt. William Sarsfield Clancy, to be 2nd lieutenant, dated September 26.
Lieut.' (temporary captain) J. Hargest is granted the temporary rank of major (dated October 27). Captain W. T. Joll is granted the temporary rank of major (dated October 15). The undermentioned lieutenants are granted the temporary rank of captain : J. P. Hewatt (dated October 5); D. S. Chisholm (dated October 15); E. F. Selby (dated October 29); D. M. Rae (dated October 30). ■The undermentioned to be 2nd lieutenants: Sergt. Alfred James Whyto, Sergt.. Robert Dean Douglas, Sergt. Jesse Rogers, Sergt. George Richardson, Sergt. Andrew Hannah, Sergt. Alfred 1 James Tiddy, Sergt. (temp. C.S.M.) Frederick Charles Whittakcr (dated October 15), R.S.M. George Henry Elstonc (dated October 29), Tho undermentioned are granted the temporary rank of captain: Lieut. H. G. Brodie (dated October 10), Lieut. C. Barry (dated November 1). Canterbury Regiment. Lieut. R. A. R. Lawry to bo captain (dated March 1). Tho undermentioned to be 2nd lieutenants : C.S.M; Frederick Comer, Sergt. Frederick Wilson (dated October 16), Sergt. John Lumley (dated October 27). The undermentioned are granted tho temporary rank of captain: Lieut. J. M. Morrison (dated October 21), Lieut. A. Vv. Wellstcad (dated October 25), 2nd Lieut. E. H. L. ' New Zealand Riflo Brigade. Major (temporary Lieut.-Colonel) J. G. Roache relinquishes the temporary rank of lieutenant-colonel (dated October 16). Tho undermentioned 2nd lieutenants to bo lieutenants j H. M. Keesing (dated October 7), L. Bucheler (date'il October 10), S. J. E. Closey (dated October 10). The undermentioned lieutenants are granted the temporary rank of captain: N. L. Mackv (dated Cctober 10), C. G. Hodge (dated October 11), W. A. G. Penlington, N. S. Johnson, W. W. Dove (dated October 15), E. H. Buckeridgo, G. B. Macmorran, G. A. Avey (dated October 16). Lieut. AY. C. I. Sumner is granted the temporary rank of 'captain (dated .October 1). New Zealand Field Artillery. The undermentioned captains to bo majors (dated November 11, 1916): — R. S. M'Quarrie, C. V. Leeming. The undermentioned lieutenants'to be captains:—o. Opio, R.N.Z.A.; W. Chaplains' Department. Tho Rt. Rev. Bishop H. W. Cleary, Bisliop of Auckland, Chaplain to tho Forces (4th Class) is taken on tho strength ■of tho Now Zealand Expeditionary Force (dated October 31). N.Z. Army Nursing Service. Staff Nurse M. A. Eddy is taken on the strength of the Now Zealand Expeditionary Force, '(dated September 30). ' ~ N.Z. Pioneer Battalion. Lieut. F. E.
