A STIRRING INCIDENT (Rec. January 13,. 7 p.m.) London, January 13. Official.—Two British aeroplanes, while reconnoitring in the Eastern Mediterranean, on arriving at their destination found two hostile machines patrolling. An engagement ensuedand the enemy was driven off. A British machine was hit and descended. Tho captain immediately burnt the machine, while the other desconded to tho rescue, and the stranded captain, climbing into the engine-cowl, both pilots escaped, just when many enemy machines were *pproaohing.—Aus.-N.Z.
