SOUTH ISLAND PROPOSAL. By Telegraph—Pre6s Association. Dtinedfn, January 4. The proposal'to establish homes for war orphans «n the South Island was considered hy representatives of reli-' gious bodies to-day, the Primate (the Most Rev. Dr. Nevill) presiding. It was resolved that it was tho duty of tho Government to make provision for tho maintenance of orjdian children in their own homes, and the meeting was strongly opposed to any scheme tending to break up home and family life. In cases where homo lifo was impossible, it was considered that existing organisations would be able to meet present needs.
