Selling a Soft Goods Business. •Robert John Kitching, soft-goods manufacturer, Wellington, asked for two months' extension of time from the date of his medical examination. Ho said he was selling out, and required to instruct a manageress in tho business. Tho appeal was dismissed on the military representative 'undertaking to secure Kitching leavo of absence till the end of February. Medically Unfit. Lionel Lawrence Boielle, plumber aiid drainlayer, Miramar, appealed on the ground of public interest and undue hardship. Ho stated that, having been rejected twice as unfit, he had since married and assumed obligations. Tho appeal was adjourned for appellant to bo examined hy tho Medical Board. Subsequently it was stated that tho board had found appellant to bo unfit. A Young Engineer. Arthur Coutiland Harding, mechanical engineer, appealed on the ground of public interest and undue hardship. An appeal by hiß employer (in Harding's behalf) was hoard on December 6. Harding, who said he was .20"yeara of age, is employed by Robert Denton and Co., mechanical engineers, Wellington. Ho said the firm did certain welding work for tho Defence Department, and he was tho only one there who could do that particular work. Some of tho work could be_ learned by a bov in a month, hut skill in the more difficult of it*would ho acquired only after long experience. Harding Was granted leave till February 4. Hoard in Secret, Edward Kerr, electrical wireman, Wellington, appealed on the ground of unduo hardship. ' Ho desired a private hearing. This ' was granted him, and his appeal was ; dismissed. ' Over-age Picture Showman. ] Herbert Richard Woon, picture ; theatre manager, Seatoun, appealed on ! the ground that he was not a reserv- - ist. Ho forwarded a birth certificate ! to the effect that he was horn on Feb- ( ruar.y 7, 1870. Collie, carrier, appealed on the score of unduo hardship. f Brotherston and Collie said "that the business was run by appellant, and r on him, seven of the y men having enlisted. Samuel Porter, merchant ind 3 butcher, appealed on the ground that • his calling up was not in the public 3 interest, also for business reasons and 3 on account of the shortage of labour. John Porter, storekeeper, urged, business reasons. An appeal by John Chalmers, storekeeper and blacksmith, oil tho ground that he had to support his mother and sister, and had financial responsibilities, was dismissed, appellant not to be called up before April 1. An appeal by James M'Lean, farmer, on the ground of unduo-hardship, was dismissed, appellant not to be called up before April 4. The appeal of Thomas Pearson, eawmiller, on tho ground of undo hard L ship, was dismissed, appellant not to be called up before February 2. Henry Green, farmer, who appealed on the ground of lameness, did not appear. Tho appeal was dismissed. ■ The following appeals were adjourned: —William Knarston, farmer, on the ground that he is required to support his parents—four months; Edward Hills, farm labourer, on the ground that ho is the solo support of a widowed mother, sister, and brother —to next sitting, appellant to be medically examined in tho meantime. Alexander M'William asked for time to wind up his mercery business. The case was adjourned for medical examination. The caso of David Tweed, farmer, who. appealed on tho ground of unfitnessj was adjourned for medical examination. Henry M'Neil, iun., farmer, appealed on the ground of financial obligations, and Joseph M'Neil, farmer, on the ground that he is supporting his parents. Tho eases were adjourned to the' next sitting, appellants and two other single brothers to bo medically examined in the meantime.
