HEAVY RAIN AND FLOODS FORECASTED
Sultry conditions, with grass fires in various quarters ruled locally yesterday, and there was still no sign of the much-promised rain. Considerable rain is reported to. have fallen _in the northern and east coast districts of tho North Island. A storm area is still located in tho north, and another is 'reported to bo approaching from tho west. Stormy weatber is predicted with heavy rain generally, and flooded rivers in many parts of the North Island. The barometer is unsteady iu the north, and is falling further in the south. ';
