GREETINGS FROM CANADA
TO THE PEOPLE OF NEW. ZEALAND. His Excellency the Governor has received the following telegram from the Governor-General of the Dominion or Canada: — "The Government and people of Canada send their cordial greetings to the Government and people of Now Zealand, •■'with best wishes for ihe coming yoar, which thoy confidently hopo will witness the close, of the presont war in the final triumph of our cause and the conclusion J a jusb and lasting peace. They add their tribute of warm admiration for tho splendid valour mid heroism of the Now Zealand Forces, who, fighting in a high cause, have brought honour and distinction to your great Dominion. (Signed) Devonshire." His Excellency replied as follows:— "I desire to associate myself with the Government and people of Now Zealand in hoartily reciprocating tho cordial sentiments exprossed in Your Grace's telegram. I can assure you that your roferonco to our Forcos is highly appreciated, and that thoir association with tlio gallant soldiers of Canada jn tho Empire's cause is a fact of , which Now Zoaland is justly proud. We fool certain that the efforts or iho united British nation, in close co-operation with our gallnnt Allies, cannot fail to bring the present struggle to a victorious conclusion, and, while fully determined to maintain our part till victory is assured, wo confidently look forward to tlio ultimate establishment of a .firm and enduring peace.— (Signed) Liverpool."
