PROSPECTS OF REFLOATING DOUBTFUL. News concerning the Union Company's steamer Maitai, which is,stranded on-a reef at Rarotonga, was received by the Union Company last evening. The vessel is on the south reef in a bad position, and the prospects of refloating her aro doubtful. A New Zealand-bound steamer from England arrived at Rarotoiiga on Sunday evening. The passengers and crew, and the mails 'wore transhipped to tho steamer, which sailed for Auckland yesterday. The_ steamer is due to arrive at Auckland in about u week's time.
