BOY SHOOTS HIS BROTHER. , •By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, December 23. An inquest was held this morning on a boy of four, soil of Andrew Hamilton, of Gleniti, farmer. It appears deceased's brother, aged 11, on Tuesday got a loaded gun from the houso to shoot sparrows. He stated his brother bumped against tho gun, and though ho had not his finger on the trigger, it went off, shooting the younger child in the shoulder. He was taken to tho Hospital, where ho died yesterday. FALL ENDS FATALLY. Dunedln, December 23. James Black Nrirrie, a well-known Tokomairiio farmer, died ill hospital from injuries sustained by a fall at Milton. Douglas Whitelaw, aged 35, a resident of PetoiH. was on Saturday riding on top of a "tram-car, when he loaned ovor the side and was struck on the head by a centre polo. Ho was conveyed to tlig Hospital, an( J WRS last night reported to bo making good progress towards recovery. A soldier named Howard Webby was admitted to the Hospital after 11 p.m. on Sunday suffering from injuries to his jaw, apparently caused by a blow.
