PORTUGAL AND THE WAR
INTERVIEW WITH THE PRESIDENT. (Rec. December 24, 5.5 p.m.) London, December 23. The President of Portugal, in an interview, stated that presently 15,000 splendidly-trained troops would be holding the Rovuma River from the Indian Ocean towards Nyassa, and that 6000 additional troops were proceeding thither. He stated that the Portuguese effort in Europe would be made at the moment when it would have the maximum effect.—Renter.
