Dr. W. Kerr Hislop, 8.A., M.8., Gh.B., of Foxton, has been appointed medical superintendent of tho Wanganui, Hospital.

Mr. Charles Triugham, sen., died at Pigeon Bush yesterday, in his 75th year, after a serious illness. The late Mr. Tringham was an architect, and it was from his plans that many of the older buildings of Wellington were erected.. Mr. 0. \V. Tringbam, solicitor, of Wellington, is a son of deceased.

Mr. W. Hollis Cocker, associate to Sir llobert Stout (Chief Justice) has been notified that he has - passed his LL.B. examination. He in a son. of the llov. J. Cooker, of Christehurch, and formerly of Wellington.

Mrs. M. Alexander, of Wellington South, has received advice that her youngest son, Lce.-Corpl. Charles Alexander, was killed in France .on September 16. Previous to lub enlistment in tho Samoan Expeditionary Force, Lco.-Corpl. Alexander was for a number of years in the employ of Messrs. Edward Anderson and Co. On' returning from Samoa he volunteered and left New Zealand with the Seventh .Reinforcements. John Alexander, his brother, who left with, the Third Reinforcements, and was severely wound-" ed at Gallipoli, is now at Hornchurch Camp. ■ v Messrs. Eric and Vivian Ridfliford are visiting Auckland.

The officers of the Twenty-second Reinforcements at Featherston made 'a presentation to 2nd Lieut. Ken. Luke, son of Mr. C. M. Luke, of Wellington, on the occasion of his approach-

ing marriage. Lieut. Luke is .to. be married at Christehurch on Wednesday, to a daughter of the late Mr. T. E. Taylor, M.P.

The members of the military training class of Banks' College presented a silver-mounted leather wallet, suitably inscribed, to their instructor, Lieut. J. M. Davis, at the same time thanking hiin for his .very ablo assistance and courtesy.
