Br Tolegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Deoomber 21. ' Eulogistic references to the Now Zealand troops are contained in a letter from General H. S. Home, of the Ist Army, -to .General Sir Alexander Godley, in command of the 2nd Anzac Division in France; Writing to the Acting Prime Minister, General Godley enclosed a copy of the letter in question. In it General Home says: "The New Zealand Division is returning to you, I I • write to tell you how well they did both at fighting and at working. They • were most thorough and successful. All ranks wero evidently imbued with an excellent spirit. The officers and men were keen to atand went in with the intention of winning, and consequently they did succeed) in every case, whilst I remained in command, and I have no doubt they continued- their gallant deeds after I left the corps. The staff found the division »asy to deal with' and most helpful in every way. In short, I formed a very high' opinion of the division. I wrote and told General Russell how highly I had appreciated their good work.
