SINKING OP THE COLUMBIA London, December 19. A United Press message'from Berlin says that in Germany's answer to America regarding the sinking, of the American steamer Columbia (8580 tons) on November 11, it was stated thai Hie steamer was stopped and then released, whereupon she : sent out.. a . wireleas warning of the submarine's presence. This was .considered au unneutral act. The vessel was searched and contrahand steel was found aboard, and she was sunk—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Reu-tot.
