STEAMER AND TWO SCHOON-
ERS SUNK

The following sinkingß are roported: The Danish steamer Micrail Ontchou«off (2118 tons), the British schooner Consfance Mary (117 tons), and the five-masted American schooner Marcus L. TJrann. The last-named was abandoned waterloggedl. Three ot the crew were saved and fee remainder drowned.—"The Times." FRENCH TRANSPORT SUNK . (Rec. December 19, 9 p.m.) Amsterdam, December 18. A Berlin message 'reports the torpedoing of the French troopship Magellan (6000 tons). A thousand wore on board.A Marseilles telegram states that everyone on hoard was rescued.—Renter. HORSE TRANSPORT LOST AMERICAN MULETEERS KILLED (Rec. December 19, 11.40 p.m.) London, December 19. Tito Admiralty reports that, the empty wost-bourid British horso transport Russian was submarined and sunk m the Mediterranean on the 14th. Eleven of the crow . and 1 seventeen American muleteers were killed.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.-&-- iito* (Rcc. DecemTseF?o, 0.50 a.m.) New YorU, December 19. The submarined steamer Russian left Newport. News on November 17 with a .cargo of horses for Alexandria. She carried a crew of 120. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. [There is no vessel named the Prussian in Lloyd's Register, but there is a Russian Prince, of 4158 tons, belonging to the Prince Line, Ltd.] TORPEDOED BATTLESHIP OR CRUISER (Rec. December 20, 1.5 a.m.) London, December 19. The "Daily Chronicle's" Amsterdam correspondent states that tha German warship which a British, submarine torpedoed a few weeks ago was either tho Grosser-Kurfurst (25,887 tons), or the Von Der Tann (18,700 tons). It was even possible for both vessels to have been struck, as there was an interval between the shots. The submarine commander may have mistaken the second vessel in the darkness for the first, a Immediately afterwards the majority of the crews of both vessels were given a long spell of shore leave. — Aus.-N.Z.
