London, December 18. Sir Arthur Pearson appeals to ■ the Press of the world as follows: —

"Request your readers to send a New Year's gift to help those blinded in the war."

Sir Arthur says' the numbers of afflicted are increasing rapidly. Already 160 have been taught to read Braille and typewrite, and are settled in profitable occupations. Hundreds are learning or preparing to learn. A largo permanent fund is needed to assure adequate' supervision audi assistance.
