' Mr. L. G. Eeic!; S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court on Saturday.

Arthur Edward Derail was lined 205., in default -18 hours' imprisonment, for committing a grossly indecent act in Lambton Quay.

A line of 10s., with the alternative of *18 hours' imprisonment, was imposed on William Eobert Williams, an exmaster mariner, who was convictcd of assaulting his son. .. Peter M'Cabe, on being charged witli being an idle and disorderly person, expressed his desire to join the Expeditionary Force, and a remand until today was granted to enable M'Cabe to enlist.

Peter M'Carron aud Patrick Smith wore charged with threatening behaviour, whereby a breach of the peace was caused. According to the evidence the pair engaged in a pugilistic en* counter in tho public bar of the Panama Hotel. M'Carron. was adjudged tho aggressor, and was fined 10s., and the charge against Smith was dismissed. For insobriety, Henry Thomas Bray, against whom there was a previous conviction, was lined 10s., in default 48 hours' imprisonment, while a number of first offenders were dealt with in tiie usual lenient maimer.
