SUNDAY GOLF, &c,
Sir,—l see by your issue of this morning that the council are to decide at its meeting on Monday next whether an appeal is to be made against the Magistrate's judgment in the golf case. It seems to me that it is r.bout time the council stopped its practice of appealing in cases for the benefit of hungry lawyers. They have not been very successful in the past,, as instance the motor-wagon case some few months ago, and ;it was common ■ knowledge that the golf by-law was of little use. It also seems that the last action was taken to suit one sect of religionists, and I think this most unfair to the general public. We all havo our opinions on the matter, and if the Presbyterians desire an appeal made they should stand the expense. In passing, I may mention the latter body make no objection to the opening of the tepid baths 011 Sunday mornings at an'admi';sion charge of 4d.—l am, ate., . FAIR TLAY.
