The children of St. James,s Private School, lAdelaide Road, held tlidir iinnual "breaking-up party and prize-giv-ing" on Thursday. In the evening a very good entertainment was given by the children, which 'was much appreciated by their parents and friends. The prizes were then presented' by the Rev. ,W. Shirer. The following is the prize-list: —Special prizes (100 per ccnt. attendance); Mauyta Cawley and Dora Ramsay. Good conduct and Manners: Alan Ramsay. Good conduct and reading: Vera Osborn. Highest marks: Harold Osborn. Sewing: Eileen Poole. Standard 1: Reading and writing—Phyllis M'Millan. Arithmetic—Harold Fowncs. Spelling—Doris Ballam. Lower I, marksFreda Ballinger. Writing—Mnrjorio Ballinger. Arithmetic—Frank Nicoll. Recitation—Madeline Cockayne. Nature study—Ford Rowe. Primer II: Writing —Keith Picton. Number work—Fay Wills. Reading—Emily Richards. Primer I: Attendance—Muriel Chotc. Drawing—Ronald Picton. Number work—William Chirnside. Progress—Constanco Keywood. Good work: Edna Thompson, Eric Franklyn.
