'Messrs. F. Meadowcroft (chairman), Kilgour, W. Watson, Rev. Reed Glasson, and Mesdames Seville arid Wakelin were present at the fortnightly meeting of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Acknowledgment _ was made of the following subscriptions' for two Weeks •ending December 12:—Mr. E. W. Gotch, £1; Mrs. Joseph Joseph, .United Insurance Co., 10s. 6d. each; Miss Molineaux, 10s.;. Messrs. S. Stidulph, T. Page, Llewellyn Smith, J. H. Malcolm, Gaudin and Sons, L. W. Ludwig, Miss M'Lean, ss. each; Miss Ranwell, Messrs. Kean, Yeats,, and 8.N.5.W., 2s. 6d. each; total, £4 16s. The . chairman said that the : subscriptions were unusually small for the fortnight under review. He assuihed that the people had too many calls at - such.a time to expect much. more. ■
The date of the next meeting was fixed for January 16.
Several cases of cruelty were reported by the inspector, (Mr. J. Henry), but all of them were of .a trivial character, and all had received proper .attention. :■.•■■ "V
