HASTINGS PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE
At a special meeting of the Hastings Patriotic Committee His Worship the Mayor (Mr. W. Hart) presiding, letters from tlie Tourist Motor Co., Ltd., Hastings, amUfrom Mr. J. Lewis, lion, secretary of the New Zealand Patriotic Society, Wellington Branch, re the proposed gift to the Imperial Government ol' the "Holt" tractor and three trucks, were considered. The chairman explained that the Tourist Co., and the Wellington Patriotic Society would be pleased-.to work with the Hastings Soicety in obtaining subscriptions from the public to purchase and hand over to the Imperial Government a "Holt" tractor and tlu'eo trucks now in New Zealand. The landed cost of the tractor is t C2GOO and the Motor Company will subscribe ,ESOO, leaving ,132100 to raise from the Hawkc's Bay and Wellington districts. Should this money be over-subscribed the balance will be handed over to any other local fund the Hastings Committee may decido upon. After discussion Mr. E. H. "Williams moved the following resolution, which was seconded by Mr. A.. L. D. Eraser and carried unanimously:—"That this society support the proposed eii't from the Wellington and Hawkc's Bay districts to the Imperial Government of the 'Holt tractor 011 the terms as set out in the letters from the Tourist Motor Co., and Mr. Lewis, hon. secretary of the N.Z.P.S., Wellington branch."
