BELONG TO THE SOLDIER? CHEQUE FOR £1000 SENT TO Y.M.C.A. The following extract from a letter! received by the National Secretary ofi the Y.M.C.A. (Mr. E. C. speaks for itself: — Palmerston North, November 30. The Secretary, '. Young Men's Christian Association. . Dear Sir, —Your appeal for funds to help our boys ; at the front has come under our notice. We also notice that the Imperial Government is giving us wool-growers a big advance on pre-war rates. That extra money does not belong to us, but to the boys who are, fighting for us. Will you please distribute tho enclosed (cheque ■ for £1000) among them in tho ■ shape of comforts,, etc., as you . have been doing in the past. It represents our estimated war profit on wool this year. We hope thero will bo a further sum available for you after the sale of tho . clir>. This handsome gift was forwarded in response to the appeal made by thej Y.M.C.A. for funds to provide com-< forts for the boys at tho front. Mr. Brownell also received yesterday. a chequo for £500 from the Hawke'3 Bay War Relief Association, that , amount having been ear-marked by, various donors for Y.M.C.A. war work,as collected by Mr. G. A. E. Mackay, local hon. treasurer of the War Relief Fund.
