The Marquis of Lansdoirae, speaking in tlio House of Lords, announced that the Government would make no further attempt to secure a, new registor, and ■would not even .enfranchise voteless soldiers and sailors, or prevent the disfranchisement of-tlio remainder, as high naval and military authorities' objections to a- trench election was most marked. The Marquis of Salisbury • protested against an election being taken on tho old register, which would disfranchise nearly all our soldiers and sailors.
