ANNUAL. MEETING. ' "" The annual meeting' of ..shareholders bf the Wellington Publishing Company, Ltd.,'.was: held at-the-Chamber of Commerce..- yesterday. . Mr 3 James Macintosh, chairmau'.of directors, .presided. The directors'report ehowed that the year's'operations had. been of a satisfactory 'nature, despite the increased ■cost of. all: printing materials and the continued adverse conditions created by tho '.war.. The', .circulation of '.The Dominion . had eclipsed , all previous years, and the business oflthe company generally was on a very sound footing. A dividend at the rato of. 5 per cent, on the company's paid-up capital,'!' as recommended •by the directors, was agreed to.. .. ~ The retiring directors, the Hon. J. G. W. Aitken, M.L.C., and Mr. Jame3 Macintosh, were' re-elected' unopposed, also the retiring auditors, Messrs. Hunt and.Menzies. On the motion of the Hon. J..G. W. Aitken, M.L.C.; a vote of thanks'was passed to tho officers and staff, and ■ complimentary reference was made to the success which had attended, their efforts during tho year. Mr. -Charles Earle responded. The chairman, Mr. Macintosh, referred to-the members of the staff who have joined.the colours, and mentioned that four employees had unfortunatelylost their lives in defence of their country. Of thirty-ono ' enlistments. there were at present fourteen members on active.service; also Lieut. G. P. John- • iston, a director of the company.
