■'"'.'ANNUAL : MEETING. / The sixth annual meeting of the Wellington Zoological Society was held on Monday. Mi;. T. Fathers presided, and thero : was a good attendance of. members.' Tho -report and balance-sheet were read and adopted., Mr. Fathers was re-oketed president] Mr, Castle treasurer and secretary, and Mr. R. Chinohen auditor. The meeting,- standing in- silence, honoured the memory of a member of-the society who''fell in battle recently. A motion of condolence with Mr. Loekwood, one of the'foundation members of the society, was also passed; The. financial position of the society was regarded' as satisfactory. The meeting decided that a* letter of condolence be sent to the widow and family of one of the Zoo staff who recently died. Following are the names of officers elected by the meeting: Patron, Sir Robert Stout (re-elected); vice-patron, Mr. J: P. Luke (re-elected); vice-presi-dents, Messrs. H. A. Parkinson, M.A., D. M'Laren,- C. J. Loekwood, E. Read, R. A. AVright, M.P., a'ndjl. Brown; mombers of the executive council, Mesdames .7. Pollock, J. Castle, S. 11. Underwood, and ' Winter, .Archdeacon Devoy, the Rev. J. Crewes, Messrs. R. H. Chinchen, E. Collie, H. J. Crewes, A. Crosby, F. J. Caterer, M. G. Grenside, A. R. Hornblow, A. J. Martin, R. Morrish, A. E. Parker, J. Pollock, S. H. Underwood, H. Sexton, C. M. Luke, and R. 'Ferguson; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. Castle; . hon. auditor, Mr. R. H. Chinchen. New members of the society were elected as follow: Mrs. T. Fathers and Messrs. Robert Hannah, W. Quin, H. T, Brittain, T. E. Gurney, H. T. Gilberd,. AY. H.- Denton, G.'R. Wilton, and W. M'Lay. The resignation of Mr. Nowlio'nso was accepted with regret, high appreciation being expressed for his work in connection with the society and the Zoo.
