The Union Company advise that ' thu Palooha is due this morning, and will berth- at the Railway Wharf, where she discharges 25 L wagons for the Railway She also has 1040 tons of cargo and a stone-crusher to discharge. She •will leave here to-morrow for Dunedin, ■ and will then lay up at that port for extcnslvo overhaul, and will in all probability be fitted ■ with • a newfunnel. I
At tho last meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board, the harbourmaster (Captain H. H. Sergeant) reported that the £!i, 0 . s „ B , "> dna e» of arrivals in October was 267,476, and tho net tonnage 160,765. Compared with Octob'cr of last year the returns showed a decrease of 42 vessels and : an increase of 874 gross tons and 1678 'net tons. The departures showed a decrease of 25 vessels and 9CBO gross tons and 8488 net tons. Mr. A. N, Sherson has signed on the Mararoa as assistant ? purser, replacing Mr. E. W. Cblebrook, who has comeashore. Mr. It. Carnachan, mate of the the Wairau, has. come ashore on sick leave. Messrs. Cathie. Dempster, and 00. advise that the Wootton will now get here on Sunday, and loads for Lyttelton on Monday, leaving this port at noon on that da.v. The John is expected here either on Monday or Tuesday, and leaves for Wanganui the da.v of arrival. The small steamer Wallscnd has now completed her discharge of guano at Nelson and left for Wanganui last evening, but owing to the coal strike in Australia her future movements aro indefinite. The Koutunul is due from Napier and the East Coast on. Monday, and returns to the coast the same day. The Westralia left Auckland on Wednesday, and arrives here on Saturday with about 530 tons of cargo to discharge. She leaves on Saturday for Dunedin direct in order to pick up her time-table. ,The Riverina-next week's Sydney bootleaves Sydney to-day for Wellington direct. Sho is due here on Tuesday morning, and -will not go to Lyttelton this trip, but leaves on Thursday on the return trip to Sydney. 'The Ngahere was to have left Auckland last evening, and is now due here on Monday. The Ngatoro sails at noon tomorrow for Lyttelton. The Ngakuto, was to have left Greymouth last evening, and is due here early on Sunday. ■ Cable advice was received by. Messrs. Davidson and Co. yesterday, stating that the schooner C. S. Holmes sailed from Seattle on Tuesday for Wellington direct. She may be expected about January 15. The Mapourika arrived at Greymouth at 545 a.m. yesterday, and left again lor Wellington last night. She conies, via ports, and is due here on Saturday. The Kaitangata leaves here for. Auckland divoct "t noon to-day. . , The New Zealand Shinning Co. adviso that the Kemuera is to leave Dunedin today at 5 p.m.. and is due here about 7 Fishing 0 = advise that the Himitangi left Wmtangi (Chatham Islands) for LrtteHon with a cargo of sheep and wool. . She returns dirw-t to Waitanei. and does not call at Wellington this trip.
