PRICE OP FLOUR
£14 PER TON IN THE SOUTH. . No one knows precisely why the price of flour in Now Zealand has bcoti raised (writes a correspondent). Any excuse serves, and as recently an inquiry was roado from America for local flour, the controllers of the price in New Zealand have seen fit to put it up another 10s.: a ton, which brings the price up to £14 a tan in the south. With 30,000,000 bushels of last year's wheat unshipped the price of flour in Australia (dictated by tho Government) is £12 in Melbourne and £12 10s. in Sydney, which, together with ■ tho freight, duty, and other charges, brings tho price on a parity with that of southern flour in Wellington. With flour £15 a ton in Wellington, potatoes selling at 2Jd. par lb, wholesale. the cost of living appears to run no risk of declininn.
