ODDFELLOWS FOREGATHER
PRESENTATION TO BRO. L.SALMC.
A representative gathering in connection with the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows was held in the Loyal Britannia Lodge Room on Monday, evening, for the purpose of doing honour to Prov. C.S. Bro. I. Salck, who has just completed twenty-one years of office. Visitors were present from the various lodges throughout the Wellington and Wanganui districts, and an exceedingly pleasant gathering resulted. Tho presentation made by tho AVanganuu district, took the form of a handsome silver table-centre, and bore the following inscription: "Presented to Bro. I. Salek by the members of the Wanganui District, 1.0.0. F., M.U., N.Z. Branch, as an appreciation ( of his twenty-one years' service as provincial corresponding secretary. February 11, 1915." Tho N.G.'s chair was taken by P.P.G.M. Bro. H Sharman, the V,G. ! s chair by P.P.G.M. Bro: E! M'Gonnell, and the G.M.'s chair by Ptov. G.M. Bro. R. W. Beadnall. The last-named made the presentation, and referred to Bro. Salek's long and valued connection with' the Wanganui District. He was held in the highest esteem by all tho brethren, and it was hoped that he would long be sparedl to fill the position ho now held. Eulogistic references were made by numerous other representative speakers. In reply, Bro. Salek,. who is also G.M. of the N.Z. Branch, gave an interesting outline of tho history of the Wanganui branch, and the struggles of the pioneer lodge to foster the cstab-' lishmcnt of branches throughout the district. He said ho folt highly honoured by-the presence of so many- representatives, and thaE«ed tho Wanganui District for the presentation. On concluding Bro, Salck was loudly applauded. '
